~NEWSFLASH~
In late 2006,
Andre Rasmussen spoke to Tommy Byrd about writing a song for The Heart Gallery which is a project of the
The Adoption Coalition of Texas and Central Texas CASA organizations. The Heart Gallery project features professional portraits of children that are waiting to be adopted and are currently in foster care. Many renowned Central Texas photographers have contributed their talents and the portraits of the children were donated to the project.
Many of the children featured in the Heart Gallery are older children, which due to their age, special need, or situation are considered
hard to place. Tommy completed the first verse and draft of a song entitled "My Forever Family"
in January, 2007. After hearing a recording of the first draft, Tracy Eilers, Director of the Adoption Coalition of Texas, asked if the A.C.T. could present the song at
their Heart Gallery Gala on Friday March 30th, 2007.
Tommy gave the song its second verse and completed it. He and singing partner Kathy Street
performed the song live at the March Gala
to a very responsive audience, including several of the teenagers currently in the foster program.
Each member of that audience received a CD of the song My Forever Family to take with them.
The completed
version of the song can be heard on Songramp by clicking on the any of the following links:
